As we embark on a new year, I would like to extend a belated congratulations to attorneys Ryan McKeen, Meghan Freed, and Kristen Marcroft as they launch their new law firm FreedMcKeen LLC. If you recognize the names, you are undoubtedly a fan of their "A Connecticut Law Blog." Located at 419 Main Street in Hartford's historical Linden building, Freed McKeen appears to be well on it's way to becoming a venerable force in Connecticut's legal landscape.
In a sense, I consider myself and Attorney McKeen kindred spirits. I chuckle at the way our lives often parallel each other. We graduated about the same time from law school. We both write blogs that have been honored as ABA Journal Top 100 legal blogs. We both served on a bar association panel on blogging. We are both married to lawyers. Oddly enough, we even opened offices in spaces formerly occupied by bars. Of course, we do have our differences. Ryan appears to be a fan of the Red Sox. I support the dreaded Yankees. He is a marathon runner. I take the car to get my mail at the end of the driveway. Either way, we both took a chance at hanging a shingle and making our mark in the legal world.

Suffice to say, Freed McKeen has to be one of the most elegant law offices I have encountered. Ideally situated in downtown Hartford across from the federal court house, the firm is a stone's throw away from state court houses, government agencies, and the capitol. If you like to take a tour, I encourage you to check out the following link. It is refreshing to see a modern take on the law office as the Freed McKeen team seems to have shied away from Staples furniture, cubicles and industrial carpeting. I particularly like their website which utilizes black and white photography and emphasizes the firm's philosophy.
I wish Ryan, Meghan and Kristen success with their new firm. As the Irish say, "May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and a smooth road all the way to your door."
