How Do You Rate as a Lawyer? Ask Avvo

So are you Bo Derek or Dudley Moore? Avvo.com is a lawyer rating service that has been spreading across the United States. According to their website, they are the world's largest online legal directory, rating and profiling over 85% of US lawyers. The ratings include client reviews, peer reviews and attorney disciplinary records. They even ad a caution label for attorneys who have been disciplined. Avvo also offers a question and answer forum where people can ask real attorneys – anonymously if desired – any legal question and receive personalized answers.

The Avvo Rating is based on data they collect about you, including years practicing, professional achievements, and disciplinary sanctions (if any). This data comes from several sources, including state bar associations, court records, and lawyer Web sites, as well as information that lawyers provide to Avvo. They calculate your score based on a 1-10 scale rating. It might not be a bad idea to claim your profile. The more experience you get, the higher rating you receive. Claiming your profile is free. I find myself using it as a resource pretty often.
