3 Tips to Improve Your Law Practice for 2011

In their question of the week, the ABA Journal asks what three things will you do to improve your law practice for 2011. Will you go paperless? Will you branch out into another practice area? Will you update your office technology? Those suggestions are all fine and dandy, but I have my own three point plan for success.

1. Learn to Ride a Motorcycle
I keep seeing commercials of leather clad attorneys riding around on motorcycles. Apparently there is big money in motorcycle accident claims. There is even an American Association of Motorcycle Injury Lawyers. Unfortunately, to get these cases, apparently you need street credibility. As such, I have decided to take motorcycle riding lessons and to join the Hell's Angels.

2. Hire a Random Celebrity to Endorse Your Firm
In my neck of the woods, the celebrity to beat is Robert Ulrich. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is featured in advertisements for one of the local firms. Unfortunately, the most we can afford is a cardboard cut out of Erik Estrada. As I have mentioned in the past, I like to place it behind our receptionist desk holding a balloon with our logo.

3. Hire a Goon
Although we enjoy a large client base, many of them often drag their feet when it comes to making payments. This is especially true with our divorce and criminal clients. We have looked into hiring a goon to persuade our clients to pay on time.

Do you have plans to improve your practice for 2011?  Let us know.
