Orange You Glad You Didn't Wear Orange

Oh, stop rolling your eyes.  I know the title of the post was goofy.  The blog is free you know.  Unless, you are paying for the Kindle version.  To those readers, I sincerely apologize... But I digress...  The great bard Kermit the Frog once lamented that it's not easy being green.  Apparently, being orange can be pretty tough as well.  The Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel reports that fourteen employees of the law firm of Elizabeth R. Wellborn P.A. were fired for having poor fashion sense.   Founded in 2003, the firm describes itself as one that has developed a "strong presence among the most well known mortgage foreclosure practices in the state of Florida.  Apparently, 14 orange clad workers (one was even wearing orange lipstick) were called into a conference room to explain their choice of attire.    The firm was under the impression that it was some sort of protest and asked if anyone was wearing orange innocently.  An employee countered they were wearing orange so they would all match for happy hour.

Who knows?  If it was a protest, it's hard to determine what they were protesting.  Whatever the reason, I applaud the firm's heavy handed approach to quash the rebellion.   If the Orange Revolution in the Ukraine is any indication, these things can spread quickly.  The same thing happened on Endor with the Ewoks.  Sure they look like cute teddy bears, but turn your back for a second and your toast.

The fired employees may be out of luck.  Because Florida is an "at-will" employment state, both employers and employees can break the relationship with no liability as long as it wasn't for an unlawful reason.  They might consider switching orange for union colors.
